We respect your privacy as a user of the Natural Resource Atlas website. This notice explains what information about you is collected when you visit the NSW Natural Resource Atlas website, how we use that information and what we will not do with your information.
Like virtually all servers on the Internet, our web server logs details about requests to the NSW Natural Resource Atlas website and applications. None of the details we log can be used to identify an individual. For each page request, the server records these standard usage details:
If you typed in a username and password to access a restricted area of the site, then the username you entered is logged (but not the password).
Any parameters you enter by typing or clicking on an interactive web page are also logged. For example, the server logs terms used in search forms, and the area and data layers displayed in maps.
These details are summarised in standard statistical reports of site usage. We will also produce more detailed reports to help us track usage of the NSW Natural Resource Atlas applications, for example to summarise the area, scale and data selections requested in the NSW Natural Resource Atlas maps. These reports do not identify individual users, but present summary counts, percentages and so on. We collect this information to understand how the NSW Natural Resource Atlas site is being used, in order to improve the quality of the service we provide.
When you subscribe to receive emails from us, you supply your name, organisation and email address.
Some NSW Natural Resource Atlas applications use cookies to maintain the link between the user's web browser and the application server during a user session (as per the Java Servlet specification). These cookies do not contain any personally identifying information.
If you no longer wish to receive email messages about the NSW Natural Resource Atlas, please email us at nratlas-support@nratlas.nsw.gov.au and ask to be removed from the list you were subscribed to. This will ensure your information is deleted from the mailing server and from our user database.

The NSW Natural Resource Atlas website is intended to enhance the public availability, dissemination, exchange and integration of natural resource information. To that end, the website has been established as an entry point to enable you to quickly and easily access information on the Internet relevant to natural resource management in New South Wales.
The website provides access to a broad range of maps, data and related information. These resources are distributed over the Internet and are owned and managed by a number of government agencies, other organisations and individuals. The information presented on the NSW Natural Resource Atlas and linked websites is provided and maintained by these various custodian agencies and organisations to their own standards.
The NSW Government cannot warrant and does not represent that the information on or linked from the NSW Natural Resource Atlas website is complete, current, reliable and/or free from error. The NSW Government cannot accept responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense you might incur as a result of the use of, or reliance upon, the materials which appear on the NSW Natural Resource Atlas or linked websites.
The information you obtain from using the NSW Natural Resource Atlas will depend upon the search topic and method that you use and the information being provided by data custodians. The NSW Natural Resource Atlas is not intended to be, and should not be relied upon as, the ultimate and complete source of information on any particular topic.
To understand the quality and intended use of a dataset presented on the NSW Natural Resource Atlas or on a linked website, view the data custodian's metadata record, which is normally linked (usually from the dataset title) on each page where the data is presented. For further information about a dataset, contact the data custodian using the details provided in the metadata record.
